In March 2012 a research report entitled On Common Ground: An Action Plan for Continued Improvement of the English Library was published by the Tokyo Korean School. The report was researched and written by teachers from the English Library team; Mr. Michael Kelly, Mr. James Stacey and Mrs. Melohnie DeMers. The executive summary and action plan have been translated to Korean and are available for download. The link is here 공동 발안: 도쿄 한국인 초등학교 도서관의 지속적인 개선에 관한 행동 계획 . The full report is currently only available in English: On Common Ground: An Action Plan for the Continued Improvement of the Tokyo Korean School Elementary Library Mr. Kelly and Mr Stacey recently attended a librarian conference and a workshop. Parents who have questions about Read Across TKS or Sakura Medal can download; 질문 및 답변 RATKS & Sakura Medal. If your question is not on the Q&A sheet you can ask your question here. It is okay to ask your question in Korean or Japanese.
You can visit the TKS teacher site for Sakura Medal. What is your child studying in science?
Drop by the English library and you can find books about recently completed science topics and current science topics. Integrating the library with the curriculum, classroom practices and materials is important to having a complete and effective library program. The books are kept on this shelf; On Friday Mr. Stacey and Mr. Kelly attended a conference and workshop held at the American School in Japan.
Librarians from international schools all over Japan came together to share ideas and best practices. Plans were also made for next year's Sakura Medal. On Saturday they also participated in "Digital Storytelling" a 7-hour workshop and lecture by Professor Jason Ohler. We look forward to bringing some new and fresh ideas back to our classrooms and library. Grade three students enjoyed their library time today. Students enjoyed reading books. Other students used the computers to post comments on the Sakura Medal website. Helping our students developing 21st century skills in our students is an important part of the English library program at our school. |
