A fun thing we do in term three in grade one is bring in ‘Stories From Home’. These are our favourite English books and the children get to sit in the teachers’ chair and read to the class.
I was SO surprised when one of my students wrote her VERY OWN imaginative story! She read her story to the class and all the children were amazed! Since then, many other children have written and illustrated their own imaginative story and they are all FANTASTIC!
I am so proud of my students because they started doing this all by themselves and it has had a snowball effect….. everyone wants to write their own story! The children were so impressed by Katie Van Camp when she came and read at our school and she has truly inspired some budding young authors!
Keep writing those stories everyone because they put a big, fat smile on my face everyday!
